Waterproof digital camera or not?

I'm looking into getting a new digital camera but am wondering if I should get a waterproof digital camera or not. I think that it would be something cool to have and if it accidentally got water or liquid on it then I wouldnt have to worry but I also wonder about the quality of the waterproof camera over the other cameras on the market. I was looking into the sony tx5 (waterproof) or the Nikon s70 (not waterproof) … Just wanting to get a second opinion before making the final purchase.

I'm getting the sony tx5 for xmas it is awesome since it has a touch screen you can throw it and won't get damages but only 1.5 m thats pretty good for me
and its you can use it it the snow it has some freeze resistant spec and more!
