Should I start a YouTube channel?

I have always wanted to start a beauty YouTube channel but 1. I don't really know how. I have a sort of nice camera (Nikon) but the whole thing where you have to buy lights and stuff. I don't really know. 2. I don't know how people will find out about me, you tube is so big and I don't want to have a channel that only like three people watch. I want to be able to help more people and maybe become a partner with YouTube. 3. I'm scared. I'm going to be a freshman in high school and I'm scared someone will make fun of me. I know "be yourself "don't care what others think" but it's hard.

I tried it also, making a youtube channel, then i found out that blogging was more my thing, and to post the vids on my blog. First thing to do before you make a channel:
Sit down, grab a pen and paper and write down what you really want to post, what you expect from viewers and what your purpose of the channel is. If you figured all of that out, then think about advertising, do you want to make money out of it, just for fun, you name it. Then ask other people what they think of your plan.
