Give me some info on these guns?

I'm an avid hunter but grew up under the wing of a stepparent and just have been using is.270 my whole life. My mom and him just got divorced so now i'm gun shopping for myself. I acually put an ad on craigslist to purchase a used gun.
I got a response today from a gal that has a Ruger 7722, 22 magnum with a nikon scope 9x4 and she also has a Ruger M77, 7mm mag with a bushnel sportsview scope
She does not know how much a used gun of either of these would be worth to set a price for me… Does anyone have any guesstimates out there on a price used for these guns if you were to sell them?

You can search both guns on gun broker and get a ball park idea on what they are worth. Both are pretty good guns, not real keen on the Bushnell sportsview scope, I would save up my shekles and get a Burris Fullfield II or a Leoupold. Remember the overall condition of a sporting gun makes a big difference in its value.

Couple M77-22 mags on the gunbroker ad for price comparison-for all rifles it depends on condition and usage. You can research the 7mm Rem Mag on same site or similar-but seems most pricing is going to be $450-$600 for average. The 22 mag is a nice rifle IF you need a small caliber plinker;the 7mm is a cartridge capable of elk, moose, bear work with good bullets, has a bit more recoil than 270 at about 21 pounds felt energy-very similar to 30-06 but might come back at you a little faster. Scopes are fair ones, but have little influence on actual pricing because some people like certain glass over others.

Will be up to you and her to determine fair pricing, but consider $425 for the 22 and $500 for the 7mm as good points.

To be honest, I'd skip the 77/22. You should go find yourself a.22LR instead of a.22 Magnum. They're fairly inexpensive, even new, and they're almost everywhere. Marlin 60, Savage 64, Mossberg 702, Ruger 10/22, Marlin 795… Those are all options, and apart from the Ruger 10/22, they're all less than $200.

As for the M77, that's a good rifle, but I'm not a fan of 7mm Remington Magnum as a cartridge. It's a good choice for elk, and will definitely take a deer, but it's more gun than you need for most things and not enough for some others.

If you're only going to be hunting deer with it, find something in.270 Winchester or.30-06 Springfield. You can buy a brand-new Savage 111 for around $500 in either cartridge, and that would satisfy most of your hunting needs, other than perhaps moose or grizzly bear.

I'd highly recommend you purchase new guns at this point, rather than used. Not only will that give you warranties if the guns stop working, but that will also give you much more to choose from.
