What are the lines in my viewfinder for?
My Nikon D7100 viewfinder has a bunch of grid lines, i know they must serve a purpose but do not know what that is as of yet

I want to start filming pranks so what kind of equipment do I need?
So I have a camera not like an expensive one but just a Nikon cool pix and I have an iPhone I made a DIY lavalier microphone it records audio so could I have my phone in my pocket and the mic on me record the audio while my friend is recording me far away mad then could I take that audio and lay it over the video oh and I'm using a Mac as my computer and suggestions on what I need to get and don't tell me that I need this $1,000 I can't get that but yeah any suggestions would help, what do I need to start filming pranks?

I was looking at picking up a new camera for shooting movies and what I want to know is: the 1080p on the Nikon D5300 worth the extra cash over the 1080i on the D5200?
Also I was looking at the Sony Alpha a6000 and really like the specs, but the semi articulating screen is a real put of for me. Is there a way around this via a smartphone app or something.
Maybe next gen I'll go mirrorless. What do you think?

Until i get my ultra wide 10 to 24 lens hopefully next month i have to use my 18 to 105 kit lens as it is my widest angle lens, for landscapes
it actually is not a bad lens, a pretty fast auto focus and good quality
but still, there's still a stigma about kit lenses, meaning they are not very good
so, when was the last time you used a "mere" kit lens?
