Nikon SLR Cameras

Nikon vs Canon, which is better?

Nicolette

I'm a beginning photographer on a budget. There are three cameras I'm interested in.

All three are in this link (Sorry, your gonna have to copy and paste)

I know nothing about these cameras,
but they are all under my price range.
Which one is better? I'm not looking
to buy new lenses or anything, so
everything as is. Which one is better?

If you think there's a difference, stick to your pink, 'Hello Kitty.'

All of them are great cameras! The D5100 is probably the best of the bunch (i.e. The most advanced), but note it says 'camera body', which means it doesn't come with the lens.

The D3100 is better in specs than the T3. D3100 has 14.4MP vs the 12.2MP the T3 has - this means you'll have a larger image. T3 only takes 720p HD video, D3100 takes 1080p HD.

However, like I said before, you can't really go wrong with any of these three.

What I would do, though, is buy body only and get a better lens than the kit lens. Body only + 50mm f/1.8 is a good combo, and there's not much difference in price.

You are going to have to decide yourself.

Only you know where you want to be with your photography in the next five years.

It looks as if you are picking a camera based on price, not performance.

If you bump your budget up to $700, you can buy a camera that will suit your needs over a longer period of time because they are part of the newest technology just appearing in the past 6 months.

Look at the Nikon D3200 and Canon T3i/600D. They are worth the extra money. If you have to save your pennies a little longer, I think you will find it worth the wait.

Until then, continue to do your own independent research by visiting the Nikon and Canon websites and visiting a proper camera shop and hold them in your hands
