Nikon or canon? Which is better for me?

I wanna get a good quality, digital camera that takes good pictures but isn't too fancy or complicated. I'm only 14 so its just for fun and i don't want anything too big or hard to carry around.also, nothing too expensive since ill be buying it myself.debating between nikon and canon, what do you recommend?

Both are great brand, but I'm more of a Canon follower. Canon has some nice Point-N-Click cameras as well as DSLR cameras. If you are looking at price, then go Canon Point-N-Click. A Canon S95 is a higher model Point-N-Click but very nice - http://www.amazon.com/...003ZSHNGS/

I would do a search online for: reviews canon nikon.
That will probably tell you the differences. When I buy a camera I also go to all the stores and even ask different salespeople on different days in the same store, until I find out all about the cameras.
There are some really good small cameras now. I use a Panasonic Lumix, because it has a large Leica lens, which is good quality. Next time I want to buy a slightly smaller one so I can carry it everywhere.

Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Canon etc etc all make great cameras.

There's no way for us to tell you what brand is better for you. YOU have to go to a local camera shop and try out various cameras they have. Buy whichever one feels more comfortable to use.

In the not "too fancy or complicated", not "too big", not "too expensive" line, and since it is "just for fun", I think you should look at the Nikon Coolpix S8100 and the Canon PowerShot SX130 IS. They are both excellent cameras for the money.

I personally feel canon would be a nice buy as models like IXUS 220 n few others r having more options(like getting only one color in a pic of your desire.etc) than Nikon for the same price rangeā€¦ I use Nikon, n it takes quite good pics. But if you want to ve something extra, then go for Canon
