Nikon or Canon camera?

I'm looking into getting a SLR camera. I use a Canon SLR camera at school. And I've had both Nikon and Canon point and shoot cameras. I was just curious on everyone's opinion as to what brand is better. Please back up your opinion with reasoning(:

Added (1). I got a Canon. From the Rebel line.

Added (2). And I know there are other brands out there. But these are my top two choices and I was just curious to what everyone thought. My heart was pretty set on getting a Canon before I even made this post.

You do understand that an SLR is a film camera, correct? DSLR is digital. If it's film then you can get a pretty nice one for about $150 US.

If it's digital then I recommend any model in the Canon Rebel line.

Neither is better. All dSLR's, no matter what brand or model, are basically the same.

Honestly, both brands can be quite similar, and you would get quality photos from both of them. One type of camera from one brand has a match in the other brand. But, since I have a Canon, I say Canon!

It comes down to personal preference where some may like how Nikon feels in their hands or how the layout of the Nikon Cameras are.vice verse on Canon Cameras.

Nikon Fans would be saying to get Nikon same thing with Canon Fans where they would be saying to get Canon.

So otherwise it all comes down to personal preference

Pepsi or Coke? Both are difference choice for different taste but with basic 'Cola'.

Canon DSLR have in built motor which make it lenses cheaper. And i think ( i'm not 100% sure) menu of Canon is simple and controlling the button if pretty easy.

Neither. Anyone who only knows two brands and can't read the thousand other answers to this same question isn't ready for an SLR.

Either or.both are excellent.avoid other makes. Try them out and see which feels better.

this is an old question here, canon fans say canon and nikon fans say nikon. I say both
