Nikon dslr lens suggestions please?
What are the best and cheapest lenses for astrophotography on a aps-c camera to shoot the milkyway
ps: i ha ve a nikon d3300 with a kit lens
Hi, I would suggest you to go reviews42.com, they have good lens list and you easily compare with other lenses. It will help you to buy the best lens.
You have a fine dSLR, so do not make any changes there
What you need is a good computer controlled Newtonian telescope with the necessary attachments to mount your D3300.
That is it.
The cost of a Nikkor 800 mm f/5.6 will keep you eating Ramon for the next decade or longer ($17,900) and you still need some kind of motor driven head to keep the lens aimed at the star clusters while the earth moves along its orbit and spins on its axis.
The cost of a Celestron or Meade telescope is well under $1,000.
Spend some time at your local telescope shop and pick the brains of the people there.
NOTE: The link to camera lenses by Jit are nice but do not address your needs when it comes to astrophotography.
Something you may want to do in the future, is have one of your older Nikon cameras converted to an astro camera

When taking long exposures of the heavens, it is highly recommended that you include the Heat Reduction System to reduce noise caused by long exposures.
