Nikon camera says lens cap is on and it is not, how do i fix this?

Jason
When i go to turn on my nikon camera it says that i need to power it off and remove the lens cap. The lens cap has already been removed and it still comes up with the same message every time. How do i fix this problem? Can I fix it myself?

Nikon make lots of cameras, which one is it?

It's just pulling you leg. Nikon is trying to tell you to buy a new camera already.
