New camera, old lens?
I just bought a Nikon D750, my first fx camera, I have a 24 to 70 lens already but now I need a zoom. I've been set on the 70 to 200 f4 because the 2.8 is out of my budget at this point.
A friend suggested the older 80 to 200 2.8, it's older (came out in the 90's ) but still gets excellent reviews
Would an older lens be okay for a new dslr?
Recommendations? Advice?
Perfectly fine to use older lenses on a DSLR. There are some really good lenses in Nikons older stock. - I use a 135mm f2.8 manual focus lens on y DSLR's.
Make sure that you check out second hand lenses before you part with cash - check the lens elements are free of fungus and the aperture blades are moving ok.
I will add to deep blue2 comment.
Any of the Nikkor auto-focus lenses can be used on your D750. The AF-S lenses just auto-focus faster which is usually only important if you are shooting action or sports.
If you are willing to manually focus lenses, there are many Nikkor manual focus AI lenses which can be purchased for not more than a song.
Visit KEH.com and see if you can find a good used Nikkor lens for your camera.
