I'm wanting to buy a camera. I want a really nice one. Like nikon or canon. What should i get and what lenses. I don't want one that is too expensive, just a starter camera. But something that takes great pictures in all lights and even a good sports setting.

Any of the entry level DSLR's would be fine. Canon or Nikon are both good - it depends on your preferences, or perhaps if someone you know owns the same brand.

The lenses are much more important, because they will stay with you even when you upgrade to a new camera body, so make sure to buy the best you possibly can when it comes to lens shopping - you WILL regret buying slow lenses.

Canon tends to be a little cheaper and have a bit more choice, including on the second hand market.

Pick a favorite few cameras, compare them on www.dpreview.com, then play with them in a store… Handling them might help you decide which one to get.

The very best thing you can do for your photography, is to attend a class and read a few books and tutorials. Having some knowledge will make a huge difference to your images.

I hope I have expressed this idea clearly enough: YOU need to learn about photography because even the world's best camera will take lousy shots in the hands of someone who has no clue how to use it.

What is your budget? HUGE question because every camera line has it's separate uses and you can work with almost ANY budget as long as you know WHAT YOU WANT.
It seems like your pretty focused, your up the right alley of camera's I'd go with a
Canon 5D camera (not the mark ii) if your a beginner or want to be inexpensive, you'll walk out
with a pretty sweet deal say about under 3, 500 for a nice body and a work able lens.
Also be *sure to do your diligence… Check out the site below to see which lens is best for
the type of photography you'd like to shoot*… Say shooting sport setting lens make sure you have good IS image stabilization (meaning your picture will come out stable and non blurry while athletes or your subject is moving) It's important to read up WHICH lens can make that happen for you even if this means SIMPLY purchasing a 5D BODY (Canon) and not getting the lens it may come with (not the best for shooting fast shot's) Simply go to Sammys then & have one of the camera expertise advise you on which lens shoots the best sports & fast movement with your 5D bdy!

Best Wishes!~
