I really don't know about the 70-300mm Tamron lens. I purchased the Tamron 18-200mm and found it soft. I sold that lens and bought my camera's (Pentax) 50-200, and I couldn't be happier. I'm sticking with my brands' lenses from now on!

In Tamron's alphabet soup USD is ultra sonic drive. That means that it will autofocus on the D5200.
