18-55mm vs 55-200mm for travel?

I'm currently having a 18-55mm Nikkor lens and a 55-200mm lens.
Problem is, I'm going to Egypt for a trip and I'm not keen on changing lenses outdoors due to the sand particles. Which lens should i equip?

Please advise me as I'm new to DSLR cameras.

I would stick with the 18-55mm lens since you will probably want to catch most of the scenery. The 55-200 is not ideal for landscape shots. I would bring both though incase you want to take close ups of people or something without getting in their face. Just change the lenses overnight instead of during the trip. For example. If you are going to check out the pyramids one day leave the 18-55 lens on, but if you are going to the city and want candid shots of the people maybe bring the 55-200 for the day. I have similar lenses and when I go on trips this is usually how I do it since it is annoying to constantly be changing lenses throughout the day.

I would stick to the 18-55mm, but definitely bring the 55-200mm lens. You can buy a micro cleaning cloth to clean the lenses to make sure no sand particles stick to them while switching the lenses.

If you have the money, it would be best to get rid of both those lenses and get the complete 18-200mm lens.

But for egypt, I think you should stick with the 18-55mm. Remember, you can always crop to get the picture that you want.

Along with that, if you have not already, I advise you to get a UV filter for your lenses. All it is an extra piece of glass to protect the actual lens glass from scratches, smudges, etc. $20 will get you a decent one (from the brand "Hoya).

After that, I can't say much more other than be careful, because egypt is known to have thieves (my mom got her purse swiped). Keep track of your camera and equipment, never let it leave your body.
