Is the hotshoe dock on the Canon G12 the same as the Canon T3?

I want to buy an LED light but it only mentions that it is adaptable to DSLR of Canon, Nikon, Sony etc.
I want to buy it but don't want to have it not fit on my Canon g12…

With the exception of Sony/Minolta cameras, a hot shoe is a hot shoe. The G12 has the Canon E-TTL connectors, but otherwise, it is a standard hot shoe, just like every other Canon, Nikon, Pentax… You get the idea.

With an LED light like the one you linked too there's no extra metering needed. The metering of the light is low tech. In other words it doesn't need to talk to the camera. You could have this light to the side on a bracket and the camera would still meter properly.

Yes, the shoe mount will physically mount onto a G12.It's the right size and shape. No reason why it won't work.
