Is Nikon better then a Cannon?
I'm getting one but I'd know what ones better.
They're both excellent camera makers. Neither one is necessarily better than the other since I see professional photographers use both brands.
That depends on who you ask.
You can't crush a tank with a Nikon…

but you can't take off the heat with a Cannon.

Well, any camera takes photos better THAN a large gun.
CANON and Nikon are competitive in the DSLR market, but they're no better THAN Pentax, and neither can match Sony's video performance. Any DSLR will take about 18 months to master and WHICH ONE'S better is a matter of personal taste.
EVIL/CSC/Mirrorless cameras aren't worth your time.
Fujifilm and Panasonic (Lumix) do better bridge cameras at a lower price.
For cheap pocket compacts, as long as you avoid Kodak, Benq, Vivitar and GE, you'll get something adequate, but you'll pay more money for less camera with either.
Cannons don't take pictures because Cannons go BOOM

A huge difference between the two.
This type of question gets asked about which Camera Manufacture, Camera Model is better, recommended, or "Which One I Should Get" far too often.
It comes down to personal preference where some may like how Nikon feels in their hands or how the layout of the Nikon Cameras are. Vice Verse on Canon Cameras.
Nikon fans would be saying to get Nikon. Same thing with Canon Fans where they would be saying to get Canon.
So otherwise it all comes down to personal preference.
As mentioned, cannons shoot cannon balls

Depends, do you want to shoot pictures, or destroy things with cannon balls?
I really would suggest a Pentax camera, they have a wonderful track record. And fit the hands better. Also great if you wear glasses! No on Sony, their backing up the customer stinks!
