Again: Go to a store and grab a camera of either manufacturer, choose whatever you like best. There's not much of a difference between those two brands.

Neither is better than the other. Just try both of them out at a nearby camera/electronic store and see which one is more comfortable for you to use.

P.S. It's Canon, not Cannon. Just a friendly reminder.

There's no such thing as a Cannon camera. It's Canon.

Canon and Nikon are both great cameras. You need to go to a good camera store and try the ones in your price range. You are the only one who can decide which one is right for you.

Just started in photography? Maybe a easier to operate camera would be more advantagous. Look into a Pentax Kr also.

Neither are better. What is better is the one that fits you properly. Go play with both. One will feel right and have the features and things that fit what you want and need. The other won't

A cannon would blast away a Nikon any time of the day. If you think very lightly about it, a cannon would blast away a Canon any time of the day too.

Canon vs. Nikon? They are the same. All dSLR cameras, whatever make or model, are basically the same. Your choice will depend on brand loyalty or the persistence of the sales rep.

I would suggest that you talk to one of your tutors and seek their advice. In my view, after 50yrs as a professionally qualified photographer, your purchase depends on a number of factors the most important of which is surely what you can afford and what branch of photography you wish to persue.
Digital Photography relies on computer editing/manipulation whereas wet photography relies on a greater amount of skill if you process and print your own material.

Neither. Hasselblad, Phase One and Mamiya are all better.

I'm a person who switched from Nikon to Canon for the simple reason of expense/budget on add on peripherals.
Nikon lenses are expensive compared to canons.
My camera WAS Nikon D60 and now I own a Canon 7D.

Regarding your beginning stage, my friends took my advise and chose canon 550D all along with the 18-135mm lens. Now they are curious about each shot and the way they get better.
Let me tell you, image clarity Nikon = Canon. No way you can drop one easily.

What's up with 3 titles? You could've wrote much more instead of that.

Soon you will learn it's not about the brand really, especially at DSLR cameras. It's much more about the photographer, all DSLRs are brilliant. If Canon would be better wouldn't no one be using Nikon? No, they are both great. We're all spoiled with tons of stuff and can't look at this realistically.

Nikon D3100, Canon EOS T3 would be the best, cheapest options now.

Canon has unveiled the EOS T3i (known in Europe as the EOS 600D) upper entry-level DSLR. It continues to use the 18MP CMOS sensor seen in the Rebel T2i (550D) but gains a tilt and swivel 1, 040k dot LCD monitor like the one offered on the more expensive 60D. It also gains the ability to remotely control flashguns using its internal flash, a feature previously only featured on higher-end models. Alongside the camera, Canon is also launching the 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS II, a cosmetically revised version of its optically stabilized kit lens. We've had a chance to use pre-production versions of both and have prepared a Hands-On Preview of the EOS 600D including beta samples gallery.
