Is it worth it to get a Nikon?
I wanted to get a small digital camera and found ones I like on Nikon.com Every camera I looked at had awesome features but all the ratings were 1-2 star. Is there a good version you know of, or other brands?
Small compact cameras are never real good and that's probably why the ratings are what they are.
Remember, if you buy a camera for say $100, that means the maker has perhaps $20 into it… Not much is it. You may not believe this but as you buy a can of say Pepsi off the shelf, the maker has
one penny in that can… All the rest is marketing, storage and shelf space.
The same applies to electronics - digital cameras included.So, given that, would you actually consider buying a camera that's almost worthless? I wouldn't either.
I'd also look at Canon - excellent gear. But, you've got to get to the 2 or 300 dollar mark to have anything worth having.
I think you should buy this one
Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera
* 14.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor;
* 3-inch monitor with One-Touch Live View shooting and movie capture
* Full 1080p HD Cinematic Video with full-time autofocus and sound
* Easy-To-Use Nikon Guide Mode with intuitive controls and on-board assistance
If your just looking for a cheap digital point and shoot, the Nikon s6000 is an awesome camera but it was about $200. If your looking for an SLR that is a bit tougher to figure out, i'm still trying to figure out exactly which camera i'm going to upgrade to.
