I'm thinking about getting a Digital SLR Camera?

Nikon and Canon are really good camera's.
What model you recommend from those two brands?

I depends.

Do you shoot professionally?

If so the Nikon D3s or D300s are a good choice right now

Are you on a budget?

The Nikon D3200 or D5100 would be a good starting camera

There are other Nikon cameras in between those extremes, but ONLY you can decide which one fits your style of shooting. Don't forget that you will eventually want to buy a second or third lens, so budget for that as well.

You are eventually going to have to visit a proper camera store and hold each model in your hands to know for sure which one you want to buy

I really like my Canon 550D. It's called the Canon Rebel T2i in the US. It has an 18 mega pixel sensor and takes great photos. It also has 1080 HD video, with a choice of frame rates. The video quality is superb, it looks great on my high definition TV.
