I'm new into photography and I would like to know which brand should I go with, Canon or Nikon? Why? I'm looking for my first DSLR camera but do not know which way to go?

Nikon D7000: D.

I think it's personal preference between the two. I personally have a Nikon D3100 which is a wonderful starting camera for beginners. It comes with a disk explaining every aspect of the camera and it's functions in detail. If you have any further questions the Nikon support staff also help you. I haven't had any dealings with Canon so I can't say about their camera's or service.

I would look for a local specialised dealer and go get some hands on and one to one advice. It may seem cheaper buying on-line, but it's not cheaper if you end up with the wrong kit! Personally I'm one of those odd balls who has Sony kit - and is often left wondering why Canon and Nikon make some things just so hard to do!

Nikon D90 dude! Buy the Body and choose the lens that suits your interest. Or else you can read some reviews about the latest digital cameras nowadays.

I say Canon, someone says Nikon. That isn't helpful right? See it's not like there's a secret that one brand is better and everyone using the opposite one is wrong and knows nothing about photography. Both brands are great but it depends if you have the talent and are ready to learn. If you told us your budget that would be helpful.

Canon EOS T2i, T3i, Nikon D3100 and D5100 would be the best.
