My Dslr (Nikon D3300) doesn't take HDRs but I have heard that it if you pop the camera on a tripod and take 3 pictures of the same scent, one in lowest exposure, one in the middle and one at the highest exposure. Once you have the three photos what do you do?

Actually it will take HDR photos, you just have to do it manually like everyone did for the past decade or so.

You mount your camera on a tripod
* Take three shots of the same subject making one normal exposure, one underexposure and one overexposure.
* In Photoshop, use the HDR tool to merge those three images together.

You can do a cheat and shoot in RAW and then tell Photoshop to make an HDR image from that file and sometimes it works.

The actual way to take good HDR shots is to measure the exposure in the shadow areas of the subject as well as the exposure value in the highlights. At that point you can tell how many stops latitude (dynamic range) you are going to have to add to your eventual HDR. I have seen some which used seven different image files.

I think you want the camera to do all the thinking for you without you needing to know the actual technique of a given process.

In the future, use your favorite search engine to find out to use a technique you like and then follow the instructions Youtube is also a good source for knowledge, so give it a look go into photoshop, merge to hdr pro. Adjust to your liking Use an HDR program to combine them together.

Don't change the aperture, because that alters the depth of field and upsets how the images match. There are a number of ways, depending on whether you have a single photograph or three photographs taken at three exposure settings, usually by using "bracketing" on your camera.

If you want a quick and dirty method, use an app called Simply HDR on your PC, iPhone, or iPad. It uses a single photo and does a pretty decent job.

The best HDR program for a PC is PhotoMatix. It'll work with either single or bracketed exposure photos. In photoshop you just go to file->automate->merge to hdr and then select the images. Done.
