How to change how videos upload?

Please help. I have Nikon camera that takes videos. When I upload my memory card my videos upload through Quicktime. Quicktime uploads my video using.mov format. I want to be able to watch my videos through Windows and burn them but I can't. It can't recognize.mov.
I do not like quicktime.
I've changed my default player but how do I change how and where it uploads.
I'm not very good with computers and this is frustrating me.

You can transcode the video with MPEG Streamclip which is free or I'm pretty sure you can get a patch that will allow WIndows to see the QT. I shoot but i'm not an expert on files since I rarely do my own post. I hope I was of some help. Here's a link that may help you.
