To be completely sure, look at the sellers feedback from other buyers. Have they sold alot of products and ended up with good feedback? This seller seems to have 100% positive feedback and has been selling since 2001, I would trust them. If anything would happen you can contact eBay (like the other comment said)

Look at the pictures to make sure they match the description. Also, check his rating by others. See if he lists any flaws the camera may have too.

In general? Ask questions.

A good seller will reply quickly and thoroughly, and will address any concerns you have, even if they may dissuade you from bidding. They should be more concerned with whether *you* and the item are a good fit, not how much you are willing to pay.

Bad sellers:
- give vague details, either from ignorance or deception
- do not respond to questions
- reply with "marketing" or salesmanship tactics to encourage bidding
- give "template" answers so they don't have to waste time dealing with you
- encourage bids even when inappropriate (buyer wants a working item, but item is sold "as is" because they broke it)
- copy/paste stock or official images rather than photograph the actual item

As for your specific item, it appears that the seller took his own photos of the equipment, ships with insurance and confirmation, and takes PayPal, all of which look good to me. (The example photos won't help if you aren't skilled enough to replicate them.) The photo of the manual does seem to suggest it is photocopied, although you can easily download a PDF from Nikon themselves.

You may want to ask if this item was bought in the US, or if it is a "gray market" item that was imported.

700+ transactions with 100% positive feedback. I say the seller can be trusted. There's no other way to tell. Do your part. When you have received the item, give feedback too to help the next buyer.
