Good starter slr camera?

I want to get a good camera, but I want one that is easy to use. I don't really want a digital camera, because i like the feel of a slr. Does anyone know a good, possibly canon or nikon that is around $250-$350 and is a good starter camera.

For under $150 you can find a good Nikon or Canon 35 mm SLR with lens on craigslist in a city near you.

The Sony Alpha A230 is about the cheapest you can go, but its better than point&shoot that's for sure.
It can run for about $350.

If you are looking for a film SLR,
I suggest you get a Canon EOS Elan II (also called EOS 50),
with a 50mm f/1.8 lens - you'll get true high quality with that.
