Good deer hunting scope for $200?

I need a 4-16x40 or 50 (it doesn't matter what the objective bell is). I prefer that it has an Adjustable objective bell. I was looking at the redfields and the nikon prostaffs but the $219 ones are only a 4-12x40. Any suggestions on any scopes? I was also looking at Muellers, any good on those, I heard they are awesome. I do not want any 3-9x40mm the zoom is to short for where I hunt.

Added (1). Also I need some kind of BDC (Bullet Drop Compensator) recticle

Added (2). I do need a scope because my rifle has NO iron sights

Good scopes are to expensive. That why Anything 0-300 yards you don't need a scope

I don't kow what it iscallbut bushnell (everyone hates them i don't no y cuz a scope is a scope) that ihave on my 20 guage slug (rifles r illeagal to deer hunt with here) and it has bdc. They make them for rifles and cross bows too so look round on their sight.

If a 12 power scope magnification isn't enough for deer sized game you shouldn't be taking a shot that long in my opinion. You don't mention what caliber rifle it's going on. Cheaper scopes don't stand up as well to heavy recoil. In the world of scopes you get what you pay for so buy the best you can afford. The only scope that comes to mind offhand like what you want is a 4x16x50 Nikon Monarch with a BDC. They are about $450.00 bucks.

I wouldn't mess with a BDC. I would get a mil-dot reticle and learn to use it.

If you're really hung up on 12x+ magnification and BDC, OpticsPlanet is running a special on the Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32 with the "ballistic plex" BDC. This scope is really for heavy, heavy recoiling rifles and has a long eye relief, but it's going to be Way better than any of the Mueller, Barska or BSA options for high magnification scopes.

I really think that you would be better off stepping up to the $300 range (it buys better glass) and getting a mil-dot, but you seem to have committed to your reasoning. Just keep in mind that people make 1000+ yard shots with fixed 10x scopes. 16x is A LOT of magnification, more than you are ever likely to need unless you're varmint hunting. If you are varmint hunting, I doubt that a BDC will be very useful for you… You really need a mil-dot reticle.

I use a Weaver V16 Scope, 4-16X42, Adj objective, Matte, Dual X, 849408, on my 30-06 for deer and have no problems. I have been using Weaver since 1971 when I bought my Rem 760 pump, put a 4x12 on it since new. Check out my web site www.huntingprostore.com, I can get this scope for you.

Lets see, for me 4x is good enough past 260 yds for deer. With a 12x, I would be able to pick a spot on a deer to 750 yds. My son can get to 300 yds on deer with a 4x. With a 16x that would take him out to 1200 yds. Anything beyond 300 yds is not reasonable for deer hunting. I would say a 3-9x would be sufficient. I much prefer a mil-dot reticle to a BDC. You can sight a mil-dot in at what ever range you want. They from a ballistics table, you can calculate the range for each dot for each load. Then you can verify it. BDC scopes work with only one particular load.
