Good camera options?
I'm looking for a good camera for taking aviation shots and just general things I see around like nice landscapes etc. Pretty new to photograph so I want it to be relatively easy to use- just plug in by USB to the pc to transfer photos. I don't want the bottom-of-the-range option, but wouldn't want to pay much more than £350. I really want a great zoom to snap things far away and just generally very clear HD quality shots. I really like Canon and Nikon. Any suggestions? Please include link.
Canon is good
Nikon, Sony, Olympus or Panasonic
Check out the Canon ELPH Power Shot 530 HS Wi-Fi == good zoom == good pictures and video… Amazon is a place to compare… Full back screen… This camera is awesome and smart… Recommend you compare…
The Nikon Coolpix L110 is great and very user friendly, as is the Cannon Powershot SX510 HS. Either would be great options for what you're looking for
Aviation!
For cheap prices for nikon
Nikon D3100 w/ 70-300mm or 55-300mm
Not sure about Canon though
All digital cameras can plug into a PC via USB.
HD is a video format - it has nothing to do with still photography whatsoever.
Clear photos are obtained only through the skill of the photographer. They are not a function of the camera. A camera is only a tool.
Canon and Nikon are not the only camera manufacturers. I do not recommend brands.
To be perfectly honest (in the UK at least) £350 is not enough to buy a new DSLR camera (the kind that an amateur or enthusiast might buy), perhaps a second hand one or an old model, or perhaps new bridge/super zoom camera. That's what you are looking at on your budget. Buying a good DSLR also does not get you a powerful zoom lens - you'd need to buy that separately - even more money.

Currently at Amazon (UK) you can purchase the Canon EOS 600D Digital SLR Camera with the 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Kit Lens for only £360 (i.e. The price is £390 but you get £30 cash back as part of Canon's winter offer). I personally think this forms good value for money as its a very capable camera for a beginner (i.e. Features an 18 megapixel APS-C sensor and full HD 1020p video, packed full of features etc).
As far as great zoom goes, you have no chance on your budget if you want to go the DSLR route. Lenses are expensive, especially long zooms, you have to be realistic. If you want to get a decent DSLR body this makes an excellent choice for a beginner as its capable of enthusiast level results in the right hands, but you'll have to save up and purchase a zoom lens later down the line when you've learned how to use it. In the mean time just use your legs to get closer to the action, for example go stand at the end of St Maarten runway, you'll get some great high resolution shots considering the under carriage of approaching commercial jets is only a few feet above your head - lol!

There's some useful advice and feedback for you here from photographers and tech heads, so take it in, do some follow up research online and think about what's best based upon your requirements. BTW I'm mad about aviation too (helicopters and light aircraft mainly - I would love to learn to fly but I could never afford in the UK where its twice as expensive as say USA/AUS but its good to dream) - hope this helps!
