Good Cameras for teen girl? (Within price range)?

I'm taking a photography class for 4 years ( photo 1, 2, 3 etc.)
I need one I can take to school, but is still of high quality.
I currently have a
Sony Cyper Shot ( pink little digital camera ) 200 $, not worth it in my opinion.
And a Nikon d200 ( was 1, 200 $ w/out my two lenses, I'm forbidden to take it to school )
I'd prefer to pay 300 $ at the most. So it won't be a HUGE loss, like if I lost my Nikon.
( Remember, to take to school ;] )
Added (1). Amkay94 - Not what I'm looking for, thats more of a point and shoot camera, like my Cyber shot.
I'm thinking more of a small camera ( a little bigger than that), but it still has manual focus lenses, and shutter speed / apature adjusters.

Canon Powershot ELPH 300 HS Black Digital Camera

Nikon coolpix p100 is good and not point and shoot. We have a few at school and i use them, they're pretty nice!

For a more compact camera, you need to decide what features are important. I like using DP Review, they have a selector tool where you can pick features and they will list cameras that meet those needs.

I looked at compact cameras, not tiny ones, that had image stabilization and full HD movie modes and 2 that are in your price range are the Nikon P300 and S8100.

The nikon p300 fits nicely in your budget
what is nice about it is that it has a fast f/1.8 lens at the wide angle along with a larger sensor and full manual controls

what you also have to consider is that you may need a 35mm film SLR camera for the classes, as many classes require them to learn on.
Get one of the Nikon F cameras, since you already have Nikon lenses
