Nikon SLR Cameras

Anyone still using older models of DSLRs such as Nikon D3? Is there any reason in particular to not switch to a newer model of DSLR?

Actually I use an older Nikon D3s due to its high performance in low light.

I'm a primarily a sports shooter and when shooting indoors or under the lights, it performs very well

At present, I'm NOT planning on replacing the D3s with another pro quality camera. Yes I have two other Nikon cameras, a D800e and D500, however, they are not replacements for the D3s

If you find me on the sidelines of a football game or shooting from the baseline at a basketball game, you will see me shooting with the Nikon D3s and D500 I will have a Nikkor 24-70 mm mounted on the D3s and a 70-200 mm on the D500

Count me in!

Reason? It's the same picture no matter how old your dSLR is.

Just as long as the camera body allows you to get the kinds of shots that you need, then there's little reason to upgrade.
The D3 was a fine camera, and it will always be a fine camera just as long as it's capabilities are in line with the user's needs. A D5, obviously much more advanced than the D3, could be a horrible camera for those who don't want or don't need such a huge body.

Cameras are just tools with which we use to express our vision. Just as long as the camera allows us to do that, then it will always be a good camera.

Furthermore, upgrading lenses will almost always be a far better option than upgrading the body. A great lens on a D3 will produce better image quality than a kit lens on a D5.
