Yongnuo Flash For My Nikon D5000 compatable with series e lens?

I got some older lenses, and my sb400 doesn't work with these older lenses it says.
"Flash is in TTL Mode chose another setting or use a CPU Lens"
So by me selling my sb400 and getting a Yongnuo Speedlight, will it let me use the flash since the yongnuo has manual settings that you adjust on the speed light itself? Just curious i really love these olders lenses and would love some bounce flashes here and there.
Let me know and thank you a bunch.

You need to sell the lens You can buy an AF-S 50 mm f/1.8 lens for less than the cost of buying an off brand flash. Why is it you don't want to do that?

With it you will only be able to shoot using flash in the manual mode (NO TTL) no matter which flash you have. For now just use the SB400 in the manual mode

The problem is NOT with your flash.

I look at the Nikon SB600 flash that I have, and I see a mode button that allows me to select between TTL and manual mode. I see buttoms that allow me to adjust the brightness.
Then I look at a picture online of the SB400 and don't find those buttons.
Probably the best use of your money would be to save it towards an SB700.

Surely the answer is to use your existing flash in Manual (or some other) mode, rather than TTL. That should put you in exactly the situation you would be in with the Yongnuo Speedlight.

*Reading the previous answer I just expected you would be able to do this either on the camera, the flash, or maybe even both (which is what I'm used to!).
