Is a Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens compatable with a nikon D5000 camera?

I'm looking for a good 50 or 35mm AF lens for my camera and could not find a good one for under 200. If this works or you have any other sggestions please let me know As soon as possible.

The 50 will work but it won't auto-focus. For that you need the +$400 50mm f/1.4 AF-S version.

Nikon has a 35mm f/1.8 AF-S lens for $200 that will AF on the D5000 (any AF-S or AF-I lens will do).
