Will the Sigma APO 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG work with Nikon D3100 and D70?
I would like to buy a sigma 70-200mm lens but I'm not sure if it will auto focus on the Nikon D3100 or D70?
What does the Sigma website say?
If the lens has an in-lens auto-focus scheme, then of course it will work just fine
I have and regularly use my Sigma APO 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG and find it to be an excellent alternative until I can save up for my Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 AF-S VR. I've used it successfully with my D70, as well as with a D50, D90, D2H, D7000, D200, and D300. As these cameras all have built-in autofocus motors in the body, they'll work with all Nikon and 3rd party AF lenses.
Since it's an HSM lens, with an internal autofocus motor, it works perfectly with Nikon's entry level cameras such as the D40 and D3100.
For future reference, here's a list of lenses that will autofocus with the D3100 and other Nikon DSLRs at that level.
