Will the Nikon D60 last for a while?

Does a camera die on you or will it only get damaged from use? I'm going to buy a Nikon D60 from ebay and they're quite expensive and i want to know if i can keep it for a while before it breaks?

If you take care of it it can last 15 to 30 years depending on how much you use it be for you will have to have the shutter or other moving parts fixed. Keep it clean, keep it dry and don't drop it.

The most vulnerable part in the modern DSLR is the shutter. On new nikons these are specced for 100k actuations. For the D60 generation nikon never provided this information. Based on a lot of time spent on photography forums I'd say you could expect at least 35k out of a D60.

I don't share the views already expressed about used gear, there's plenty of shops that sell used cameras with at least 3 months warranty. On ebay it is indeed buyer beware, buy from someone with a solid reputation or from the ebay outlet of the main camera stores.
