Which is better, Nikon or Canon? - 1

I'm going to buy a digital camera and I want other peoples opinions. What is better a Nikon or Canon? I've worked with a Nikon before, the D40 model, and loved it. It was simple and easy to use and took excellent photos. If I were to but a Nikon, what would you recommend, a D40, D3100 or D5100? I've used Canon cameras before, but it didn't seem as good as a Nikon. It seemed to take better photos at a better rate, but it was weird for me to use. What would you recommend? Also, I'm not a "photographer" I just enjoy photography as hobby.

Obviously not, you think there's a difference.

Anyone asking this question (and ignoring the rest of the photographic industry) deserves a Benq.

If you like the way a Nikon handles, then by all means get a Nikon. If the D40 served all your needs, then you can save a little money and get the D40. Next you will be asking lens questions, but that is later.

I have been a Canon user all my life and love them. But you have already made your choice! Just read your text! You prefer the Nikon product. And that is fine for you. Now you have to weight the abilities of each model and well as handling (how well you like handling a specific model in terms where controls are located).

This type of question gets asked about which Camera Manufacture or Camera Model is better or recommended far too often which I've said this many times before and I'll say this once again.

It comes down to personal preference where some may like how Nikon feels in their hands or how the layout of the Nikon Cameras are. Vice Verse on Canon Cameras.

Nikon fans would be saying to get Nikon. Same thing with Canon Fans where they would be saying to get Canon.

So otherwise it all comes down to personal preference.

You have made your personal choice. I say go for it. You can't go wrong. As to what model exactly, get the most recent and most expensive you can afford for maximum satisfaction. Consider the much newer D3200.It's just $50 more then the d5100.

Don't worry. DSLR's aren't limited to professional photographers. Anyone can own and use them. There's a dSLR out there for everybody.
