Which is better Nikon D3100? Or D5000?
Everyones saying to save up 200$ More than a D3000.
& Which is better to purchase it at? The store or online?
Is online purchasing LEGIT? Do they scam?

Adorama or amazon are perfectly legit. I buy almost all my electronics from amazon (adorama doesn't ship to where i live).
Between these two cameras, it depends on what you want. For pure photography the D5000 will offer a much more comprehensive feature set and a better general sensor performance according to dxomark.
The D3100 offers better video and better low light performance, but an otherwise very restricted set of features.
There are other contenders in the market though if you don't insist on Nikon, e.g the Canon 500D/Rebel T1i or 550D/Rebel T2i or the Pentax Kx.
Try Amazon, it is probably the most trusted website for purchasing things, you won't get scammed because they buy from distributors and then they look them over and sell them to you.
I shop online All THE TIME and never had any issues, just be careful about where you purchase from. I would take either camera but the 3100 has full HD video as well so it depends on what you are wanting to use the camera for.
