So the Nikon D3100 doesn't come with a USB cable, and I wanna upload my pictures onto my computer. Does anyone know where they're sold?

Bring your camera to BestBuy and ask them if they have a cable

The BEST thing to do is buy a memory card reader instead of a USB cable. You can buy a $10-$15 card reader almost anywhere. I have even seen them in grocery stores and at Walgreens/CVS/etc

The best procedure for your memory card (and to prevent losing your stuff) is:

1)Download the memory card content to your computer
2)Verify the transfer was a success
3)Back up the files on your computer to another hard drive (or CD/etc)
4)Format the memory card with your camera (and not the computer)

Do this at the end of every day that you take photos/videos

People, long, long ago stopped using USB cords for copying image files to their computer.

1) it is slower than using a card reader
2) the mini-USB connections on digital cameras are fragile
3) may companies, like Canon, required special software be installed for those cords to even work

If you have an older computer that does not have a SD/SDHC card reader or an ExpressCard54 with memory card reader adapter, you will have to buy one. They cost about $10
