Where Can I See What The Nikon D3100 Can Do?
Can I get a link or something to see samples of the pictures the D3100 takes i mean the pictures with the kit lenses. Because when i look it up on youtube just the footage sample comes out. And i'm totally happy about what this camera can do with the video but i want to see multiple shots taken with the kit lenses. Because i know after i get it its gonna be a while before i get some new lenses.
Check Flickr for D3100 groups to see photos taken with that specific camera. You'll see lots of bad ones and a few good ones. The D3100 kit with a basic lens is capable of capturing very nice photos. Sharp focus and vibrant colors. If you get it pick up the book "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson to learn how to get the most out of your purchase. The camera will take nice photos in Auto but you will MAKE great photos when you take control. You don't need to go out and drop more money on more lenses as some will surely suggest. Buy the camera, learn to use it outside of the Auto Exposure modes and then you'll know if you want to start spending money on lenses.
No matter which dSLR takes the photos, how good they are are completely up to the person using the camera.
Here is a link to an old, Nikon D40's results in the hands of a pro. You can expect the D3100 to out perform the D40 by a lot.

Add the fact that the D3100 can shoot Full HD video (1080p), I don't know how you would be disappointed with it, unless you are unwilling to take the time to learn how to use it at an advanced level.
While this link was shot using a D7000, there's NO reason, you could not do the same with the proper skills and good script with the D3100.
Here's a link to Flickr Camera Finder. You'll have to look at the EXIF data with each photo to see which lens was used.
These are from the Flickr D3100 which are tagged with "18-55mm";
These are all photos taken with the D3100 (any lens);
use the drop down box to select portraits/macros/landscapes, etc
Definitely go to flickr and look at the camera make and model…
