If you spend $200 more for a D3100, you'll get a *much* better camera. The D3000 is not only the cheapest, but also by far the worst DSLR in Nikon's current lineup. By "worst" i don't mean "bad" though, just "not as good as the others". All others, be it D3100 or D5000, really are significantly better.
