Well I'm a Canon guy so that's what I recommend. But, in this league of camera there really is no best, there's only your preference for the handling and feel of the device and your skills with a dslr camera - so pick one already

Of the three, the D5100 has the best performing sensor

600D=D5100>D5000

D5000 is older, has more noise, less pixels, older tech.

D5100 and 600D are so similar it won't even matter with which one you would go. I'd pick 600D because I tried both and am used to Canon. Someone else would go with the Nikon, it's the same deal.

I got the d5100 over the 600d, only reason is that it was $100 less, and the cameras where so similar that i couldn't justify paying the extra $100 for the canon.
