What Price Would You Pay for a Nikon D40 with a Broken Flash?

I have the opportunity to buy one and the asking Price is $250 that is to expensive I realize, but what would a fair price be?

$100 tops.

You can find plenty of used DSLRs in the $250 price range that are not broken; D40, D40x, D50, D70 and so on.

Check either Adorama or B&H for their used camera departments and you will find them. And they normally have a 30 day money-back guarantee; what kind of guarantee does the camera you are wishing to buy have?

I wouldn't pay more than 50 bucks for it. B&H has a nice D70 body for $170.00.

You don't know how the camera might have been mistreated to break the flash… It may have been dropped and so on.

I'd stay away from it. $250 sounds ok for a fully operational D40, but definitely not for a partially defective one.

$250 is for a fully working 6MP dSLR. Probably less than $200 but I'm pretty sure $50 isn't enough for the repair.
