What DSLR would be best for me?
The only cameras i have owned are point and shoots and Nikon D70. I bought the D70 for extremely cheap off ebay and it didn't last very long. I'm pretty much a beginner. I want an entry or mid-level camera thats not too old but not too expensive. Any suggestions?
I have canon rebel xsi two lense kit, its ok. But again all cameras are TOO expensive. Sorry yours pooped out. I also was a beginner of course with the rebel, had a kodak easy share first. Personally i hate digital cameras. But you said not too old.
Yes Nikon… But not D5000 or D5100 as Pic Taker said. Why i said no because you've used the D70… Its cool for a beginners camera. You need to go high now… If you can push in get the Nikon D7000. If Not atleast get the Nikon D90. But nothing less than that please… Else upgrading from D70 would be pointless… Also with the D90/D7000 you get the freedom of choice with a large array of lenses which you won't get with D5000 or D5100 (most people won't tell you about this till u actually get the lower model camera and its too late.)…
Chief difference bwtwwen D7000 & D90 are
1) D7000 has VDo with Autofocus, which D90 doesn't have (both have HD VDO)
2) D7000 has 39 focus points and D90 has 11 (Doesn't really matter unless you'r using a lens with really low aperture ~f/2 range)
3) D7000 has more megapixels, so if you'r into cropping an image after shooting then you can crop more with the D7000…
Thats about it…
You already know a little about Nikon, so look at their D3100 or D5100. If you need used, look at the D5000.

There are more camera manufacturers than just Canon and Nikon to choose from.
Since you already have a Nikon digital camera you should stick with Nikon. A really good one for a beginner is a d5000.
The Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera is an affordable.
