What cool features does the Nikon D3100 camera have?
I really am leaning towards this DSLR camera but its a lot of money and I know the fundamental tech specs but I was wondering what funky artsy effects it has. Like does it have fish eye, sepia etc! Or if you have any other camera ideas I'm open to those too.
DSLR's don't really have those cheezy effects in them because you can actually create them the REAL way. Those things are put on point and shoot cameras to suck people like you into them.
Might try looking at the bridge cameras if you want that kind of stuff. The Nikon P500 and the Canon SX30 IS are top of the line in the bridge cameras right now.
Hiswifetheirmom does have a point. Although his delievery wasn't neccessarily the most appropriate.
I suggest that DSLR camears are not neccessarily what you are looking for.
I think you might enjoy the micro 4/3rds camears much more.
Here are the most recent offerings… (they are all pretty much the same.
How do you choose one:
- find the one that fits most comfortably in your hands
- choose the one that you can navigate through the menus.
Olympus EP-3
Panasonic GF-3
Sony NEX-3
Here are a few side by side comparisons that you might find helpful.

DSLR cameras are serious cameras.
If you want to do any post production changes in your images, you will need a serious photo program like Photoshop CS5 as well.
It does have a user guide for those who have no experience using a fully adjustable camera.
The Nikon D3100 uses a real 10.5 mm fisheye lens instead of some kind of effect.
There's a Retouch menu on the camera. You will find that on page 151 of the user manual
Ah come on, ignore those features. That's not what makes photography, it's about you and your talent. Anyone can click on an effect and get an unusual shot, but that's not photography, that's editing.
It does not have them, but if you got Photoshop you can have fun as well.
