Things to check after receiving a refurbished DSLR camera?
I just bought a refurbished DSLR camera, Nikon D3200.It's my first camera. I'm wondering is there a checklist that i need to make sure everything is fine with my refurbished camera? Like shutter count? Etc. I bought it from Adorama.also, any expert tips for a new beginner like me?
Understand first that dslr cameras are serious equipment. They're designed for people who are serious about photography and not just snapping away at parties.
To learn to properly use any dslr camera can take years of work and practice. There's a learning curve that will take effort to over come. If you're not interested in learning real photography then this conversation is already over. If you're planning to use the camera's screen as a view finder and always running on full auto instead of learning the art of this camera again, this conversation is already over.
Work at it, learn, read, and most of all shoot lots of stuff. Practice with the manual settings, learn what they do and how they behave.
Doing all these things will tell you about the camera's general condition.
I would say this. Buying from Adorama you've done business with a strong, up and up company that doesn't fly by night so to speak. The camera was probably refurbished by Nikon, the only way to buy refurbished gear.
first and most important right now… Sit down with the camera and the owner's manual. Read the book cover to cover first.
Test everything.
Use it as if you were shooting something really important. Do everything you know about a dSLR. There's no other way. It doesn't matter if the camera is brand new, used or refurbished. You do it the same way.
Test everything.
