How to check how many photos you have taken with a DSLR?

The camera in question a Nikon D5100, i hear people calling them clicks? How do you check ( or can you check) how many photos you have taken.

Shutter Actuation Count
Take a picture, open it up on a graphics utility program in your computer. Look for the menu item about Picture Properties. Check the EXIF data. File counts appear there depending on the programming of the camera.

There are many small applications some available free
that will allow you to view the shutter count in the EXIF recorded with your shots
Nikon Apps like View NX and Capture NX do not access this information
