Sony A55 or Nikon D3100?

I'm looking into getting a DSLR camera and have narrowed it down to these two options. I really like all the features on the A55 but some people tell me not to go with Sony for DSLR cameras. Which one is better?

Trolls!

I'd have to go with the Sony on this one. I usually say Nikon or Canon, but not in this case.

Sorry, neither in my opinion. I bought a Canon Powershot. Was in my budget and is a real little tiger! Http://powershota2200.co.uk/ I don't see the point in spending a fortune on a camera which will soon be left behind with tech developments. Just my opinion, sorry to disappoint.

Have you handled each one?
I mean, you will find a lot for pros and cons of each one out there. But the most important thing is how confortable you find with each one.

In fact. You should compare D3100 vs A33 and D5100 vs A55. Both brands are awsome at entry levels and every one offer almost the same (considering Sony is SLT instead of SLR).

In a flash. Don't listen others and make your choice based on what you feel in your hands. For example, answer the question like "Did you feel confortable with a electronic viewfinder?"

Both Sony a55 and the Nikon d3100 are DSLRs and for people with some knowledge about photography. I'm not saying that you can't operate the camera… You can definitely! If you are willing to spend $1000 and wanting some interest to learn photography you should think of the Sony a55 as this camera is of the newest technology with a translucent mirror tech APS-C type CMOS sensor, 16.2MP (mega pixel), 10fps (frames per second) shooting mode, panorama (you will love this), Full HD video recording (never need a video camera) and a host of other features. You can always start to learn from scratch. Nikon d3100 - small sensor (bigger the better), 14.2 MP (bigger the better), 3fps shooting mode (bigger the better) and other specific Nikon features.
