I'm geting the nikon d3100 for christmas but which lenses are best for the camera?

So i'm geting the nikon d3100 for christmas but which lenses are best for the camera?

Get a normal kit lens to find out what type of photography you're into. That'd be either a 18-55mm or 18-105mm lens, ideally VR.
Or, if it fits the bill, get the Nikkor 18-200mm VR.

It depends on what kind of photography you're into. I do portraits, and I prefer prime lenses, esp my 50mm and 85mm lenses. If you just want a general use lens, the 18-105mm VR will be a good choice for you.
