I'm Buying a Nikon D7000?

I'm set on the Nikon D7000 for many reasons. But this is what I plan to buy:

Nikon D7000 (Body Only)
AF-S NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR Zoom Lens
AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX Lens

On BHphotoandvideo.com they had a "Buy together and Save" button where I could buy the D7000 (Body Only) and the 55-300mm and save $150 on the 55-300mm lens, but it seems JUST when I plan to buy it they REMOVED it.

Is there any other sites that offer discounts when you buy a Nikon D7000 (Body Only) + 1 other lens like bhphotovideo.com?

Also, do you think this is a good start to photography? I don't want to buy the 18-105 kit lens and just the D7000 body only since I feel I won't be using it that much. What are your opinions on this?

Added (1). Yeah, I was basically 10 hours too late to order.

I plan to shoot weddings, parties, events, wildlife. I'm not a big fan of landscapes, so I won't need a wide angle lens YET.

Added (2). For the "Buy together & save" deal, they have it for every nikon DSLR body only, just the d7000 is temporarily unavailable. Oh well, I guess i'll just call BH photo tomorrow.

What your lens selection lacks is any wide angle capability, like 18mm or less. Which is why the 18-105mm kit lens is attractive. A better, and coveted, lens is the 18-200mm Nikkor lens. What I upgraded to was the Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD, which approaches your 300mm. So that's two suggestions.

Your choice of the 35mm f/1.8G DX lens is also good. Depending on your use, the 50mm f/1.8 may be better.

Call BH. They may be able to be talked into giving you that discount. I don't know of anybody that offers anything but the kit combinations, but you might check Adorama, Beach Photography, Abe's and other reliable vendors; maybe even Amazon will have something.

What do you plan to do when shooting landscapes or groups?

You need a wide angle lens for that.

The special instant rebates on cameras and lenses come and go. You just waited too long to pull the trigger.

Since you did not give us a list of the subjects you intend to shoot, it is hard to know if your choice of lenses is appropriate for those subjects.

For weddings, parties, and events you will definitely need that 18mm for large group shots. Wide angle is more useful for general purpose shooting than telephoto. If you don't like the 18-105mm, why not the 18-55mm instead? You can then move your tele-zoom to 75-300mm to make it a bit cheaper. Yes, the 35mm f/1.8 would be great but if you want to keep your distance from your subject, consider the 50mm f/1.8.

You can try calling B&H about that canceled package. You may still be able to avail of it.
