I'm thinking of buying the Nikon d7000 however?

Many people tell me buy the body only and skip the one with the kit lens, but what they don't tell me is if I buy the body only which lens should I buy. I would be using the camera for normal use nothing professional taking picture of family friends cars things like that. My budget is about 2500.

I'm not sure about the lenses, but I just bought a Nikon Coolpix P100 and it has has 10.1 MP stills, with the capability of taking up to 10 full resolution pictures as second. Plus the 1080p video, with a 240 fps rate could be useful for slow motion videos of fast cars. Might not be what you want, but it's a far cheaper option and a brilliant piece of kit.

The D7000 coupled with a 18-200 mm VR lens would fit your budget with money left over for more memory cards.
The 18-200 mm will give you a one lens solution…
