Should I switch to Canon?

I currently have a Nikon d3100 with the kit lens and a 55-200mm lens. I'm looking to upgrade to a Nikon d5100, or a Canon EOS Rebel T3i with a kit lens and a fixed fifty f1.7(i think) lens. Is it worth selling my Nikon equipment? Oh and I usually shoot in low light, so a high ISO with minimal grain is needed. I'm practicing portraiture also.

If you owned these cameras, what were your experiences?

I have only owned Canons and they are great, I recommend them.but, I have been wanting to try out a Nikon for some time now, just don't have the money.

These brands are the top of the line. You won't be able to discern a difference in quality between them. The truth is: if you're not happy with your results with Nikon, you're likely to be unhappy with your results from a Canon. That's because one key factor that is more important than any other will not change with your brand. That factor is you and your skills.

No major difference between the two brands… Switching brands won't make your photography any better.

I'm a Canon guy myself and I'm suggesting you stick with what you have.

Also, instead of dropping money on another body, spend it on lenses or a flash… You'll get more improvement from that then from a new body. Also, pick up some basic books on photography.

Seems like a waste of time and money to switch brands, but if you want to that's up to you.
