New Nikon D800? Should I sell all my Canon gear and switch?

I have the (still) excellent 5dmk2, with very low shutter count. I also have plenty of decent-to-excellent glass. I also have a few good Nikon prime lenses, such as 50/1.8 AF-D and 85/1.8 AF-D.

I do mostly landscapes and street photos. I want Nikon's wide angle lens options, though. They are so much stronger than Canon's WA. What I give up can mostly be replaced in Nikon equipment.

Added (1). I like the guy's response when he says "Whatever kid". As if he is some seasoned veteran who has used all systems. I HAVE USED both Canon and Nikon wide angles, and let me tell you: the Canon 16-35/2.8 and the 17-40L (which I own and have used extensively) are very poor in the corners and edges.

But what do I know? I'm just a 34 year-old "kid". Haha

That is totally up to you.

Since you already have Nikon glass, you are ahead of anyone else switching to a Nikon System

The D800 should be excellent for shooting landscapes.

The 800 is a great camera. I've owned both systems and currently own Nikon. I would not complain about the wide CAnon lenses. I had the f1.4 wides and they were fantastic. It's really a personal coice and also a choice based upon what lenses you already own for a system.

I'd look into the D700 then. It's going cheap now and will still be an excellent landscape camera.

So much stronger than canon's WA? Whatever you say kid.
