Selling Nikon, buying Canon?

This year I decided I wanted to trade my Nikon for a Canon. Perferrably a Eos Rebel t2i, or t3i. But I don't know where, and how much to sell my Nikon for? It's the D3100, with box, no damages, never dropped, with $55 case, and 16gb memory card along with 18-55mm lens.

Added (2). I don't need sassy replies! I'm just asking basic questions. You are making it seem like i'm someone who doesn't know how to work a camera. I bought the Nikon a year ago. People's choices change within a year.

Why do you want to switch? You're going to lose a good amount of money doing that…

So why did you buy a Nikon in the first place?

Changing systems will do p*ss all for your results.

If you don't "like" Nikon's, there's no guarantee that you will "like" Canon's either. They both work the same and of the two, Nikon is known for better performing sensors.

I guess if you have more money than you need, changing camera systems is just fine.

Most people who say they don't "like" a camera with the quality of a Nikon or Canon usually are missing the skills necessary to produce brilliant images using ANY camera.

Try craigslist, or local classifieds. How much will depend on what people in your area (or online if you try that) are selling for.

Like amazon.com has new and used for $375 but that doesn't include a case, etc.

So… My advice sell locally meet in person, and sell as a bundle.

With memory card and case, I'd guess you MIGHT get $399 or less selling it privately. I'd suggest using Craigslist, as you will be selling locally, and can require cash and not have to deal with checks or questionable payment options.

You've own a camera for one year. No other lenses, external flash, or other accessories, other than a bag. If you've not explored the excellent world of Nikon optics, then you have a toolbox with one wrench in it. If you stay with the same small content with your new Canon, expect more disappointment.

I hope you don't keep changing your opinions on cellphones, video games, computers, cars, and friends the same way. It's called "commitment", and comes highly recommended.

Did you try both camera systems before buying so you could make an educated choice? And, will you be disappointed in the near future, as the Canon EOS Rebel T2i or T3i (talk about long names) will soon be replaced by newer and "better" models?

After reading fhotoace's comments, I thought I would recommend that you look at a Pentax DSLR. I chose this camera because it is easier to see through, and the location of the dials and controls are handy and easy. I have been a Canon user all my life in film cameras. But the new digital with the 5 focusing squares drive me nuts. I much prefer the movable focusing square of the Pentax ( I own a Pentax Kx now discontinued). And I like that the stabilization feature is built into the camera body rather into each lens.
