Problem editing 1080p video?

I was testing out video on my new Nikon D3100, the video was viewed fine on my camera but when I tried viewing it editing programs like Premiere and Sony Vegas it would show like five friends throughout the length of the whole video. The sound was perfect, the video wasn't. Help please? I'm trying to upload it to youtube to see how it looks there. When it's uploaded I'll edit it and post it here.

I guess you video file is not he right one for premiere or sony vegas. As far as I know, wmv, mpg is more suitible for those two edtin tools. You may try to change the file extension to see if it works.

This converting program could also allows you to adjust video resolution, frame rate, bitrate, etc to keep the original quality. Evalaute by yourself. Hope it could solve your problem.

You did not tell us anything about the computer. It is entirely possible that what others report as "laggy" when trying to deal with high definition video - it the same issue you are having. The symptom you report is typical of an under-powered computer trying to deal with too much video information.
It is also possible that the video payer being used - along with the associated codec are not quite right for the task… But there's no way for us to know with the information you have provided so far.
